BT aquire Customer Street

By Graham

Yesterday was a fantastic day for Customer Street and UFindUs.  At midday all head office staff were gathered together in Lancaster, with other similar meetings being carried out in our other 4 branches, and Stuart Forrest made the announcement that Iomart had finalised the sale of the UFindUs business to BT.

Iomart have invested heavily in the acquisition of data centres in the last 12 months and this is where they now see their core business. The result of this was the decision being made to sell off the profitable directory sector of the business which includes the three national business directories of UFindUs.com, Smile Local and More UK as well as around 150 other associated trade specific directories.

The next few months will see the transition of the Customer Street business from being totally independent to becoming a key unit within BT Directories. If we leave the obvious excitement of our integration within this multi billion pound business to one side we must not forget the more practical issues which our customers will no doubt want to know more about.

It is important to stress that there will be no change for our existing customers with regards to contracts or the service which they have subscribed to. As we move through the complex processes involved in merging two businesses together our customers will be contacted with enhancement offers which are appropriate to their business needs.

Everyone here is really looking forward to watching the business we have built up over the last 6 years continue to grow as the internet continues to develop. In fact the plans that we have for new product ideas will ensure that we are well and truly one step ahead of the competition.
